The RTmap system for Geonics EM61-MK2 consists of two separate but fully integrated programs:
RTmap61MK2 – field data acquisition and mapping software for Windows 11/10–based tablets and field laptops
RTM61MK2 – Windows-based data-processing and XYZ-file generation program
All types and models of EM61-MK2 metal detectors are supported. This system is widely used in UXO detection, geophysical metal-detection surveys, site clearance, environmental investigations, infrastructure mapping, and utility search.
RTmap61MK2 – Data Logging & Real-Time Mapping for EM61-MK2
The RTmap61MK2 program provides unmatched real-time QA/QC, live colour mapping, and precise navigation for EM61-MK2 metal-detection surveys.
The program displays a real-time spatial colour image of EM61-MK2 amplitudes, enabling the operator to immediately adjust survey speed and line density when anomalies are observed.
RTmap61MK2 Logging Mode
RTmap61MK2 improves field productivity by guiding the operator along uniformly spaced survey lines, preventing skipped areas and eliminating unnecessary overlap—critical for UXO surveys, wide-area metal detection, munitions response, and clearance verification.
The system provides full oversight of EM61-MK2 instrument status, battery level, cable connections, GPS/RTK/RTS parameters, and user-defined GPS Warning Mask settings.

GPS / RTK / RTS / SLAM Integration
RTmap61MK2 works with virtually any GPS receiver supporting NMEA messages (GGA, POS, GLL, LLQ, LLK, GGK), and supports Trimble, Leica, and other Robotic Total Stations, including RTS SLAM options (confidence, pitch, roll, yaw) from pseudo-GGA streams.
Navigation & Background Data
Operators can load up to 10 previous surveys or user-prepared files (site outlines, grids, features), providing precise spatial control and easy return to earlier survey stations.
Operation in Difficult Conditions
Survey lines can be resumed at exact positions after obstacles or interruptions—no tapes or stakes required.
The system supports full operation at night or under low visibility.
RTmap61MK2 can also convert any supported tablet/laptop into a stand-alone GPS/DGPS/RTS logger.
